Your Input

To anyone reading this blog, leave me a comment if there are any specific stores you would like more info on or coupon policies on. I will do my best to get those requests fulfilled and posted in future posts.

I tend to get blog-block and then I quit blogging. So any suggestions will help.

CVS - Everything you need to know

Learn how to shop at CVS like a pro. Here is CVS’s coupon policy and how to use the CVS Pharmacy Extra Care Bucks to rock those deals!

CVS Coupon Policy: CVS stores accept the following types of coupons:

1.Manufacturer Coupons (this includes both coupons from newspapers / magazines / other print sources ans well as manufacturer online printable coupons)

2.Store Coupons (this includes CVS store coupons found in their weekly fliers, in-store coupon booklets, CRTs and purchase based coupons)

3.Competitor Pharmacy Coupons (they do not, however, accept any other type of competitor coupon)

4.Extra Care Bucks (called ECBs for short, they are like a Catalina from the grocery store that is printed out at the cash register on the bottom of your receipt)

CVS Lingo:

Extra Care Bucks (ECBs): It’s a CVS store coupon for a discount of your next purchase order that prints at check out. They print at the bottom of your receipt and can be used “like cash” on almost anything else sold at CVS (excludes gift card purchases, alcohol, prescriptions).

Extra Care Bucks card: Card that will track your ECB’s and rewards. You must scan this before your transactions to get your ECB’s. Apply for the free Extra Care Bucks card online or in-stores.

Reinventing Beauty Magazine: This is a is a 99 cent magazine available in the beauty section of most CVS stores. It sometimes comes with CVS and manufacturer coupons. Where else can you find the magazine? by the weekly flyers, with the other magazines, by the cash registers, in the cosmetic aisle. Not all stores seem to carry this magazine.

Clip Free Coupon: Refers to a month long discount offered that’s deducted automatically at checkout.

CRT: or Cash register tape is a coupon that prints at the bottom of your receipt or at the Price Scanner.

Price Scanner: Price scanning machines located at certain stores that serve to check the price of items and also print CVS store coupons when you CVS Extra Care Bucks card is used.

CVS Store coupons: These can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for added savings. Can only use one per transaction.

CVS $/$$ coupons: These coupons provide a discount once your order reaches a certain value before coupons. For example: you could save $4 when you buy $20 or more. This total is always before any other coupons.

Order of handing coupons to the cashier: First hand CVS dollar off transaction coupons, then CVS store coupons/manufacturer coupons, and finally your ECBs.

What drives me crazy

I may have blogged about this before but it is still driving me crazy.........so here goes!

Disclaimer: This is my blog and MY Opinion.

Checking out of WalMart the other night (picking up my Free body wash) I noticed a guy with a 10 or 15 body wash bottles. Now I am all about the free stuff, and building a stock pile, but is cleaning out a shelf really necessary? I mean I had to go to three WalMarts to find the Nivea to be able to use my 2 coupons. No I did not get the last two bottles.

Now for what really drives me crazy. The last couple of times I frequented the local flea market, I walked by table after table of Free with coupon items. I am all about using free items to help out with expences for the family but to go out and then try to sell it? It really gets to me when I see the items that I had to go to several stores to find at all to USE in my own household.

If anyone ever sees me selling any of the items I have used coupons to get free, you have the OK to chew me out.

So what do you do with the items if you get too many? Like I said in my previous post, donate them. Local shelters and food banks can put them to good use. There is also the Red Cross. Folks who have lost everthing to fire or disaster can benefit too.

Using coupons to benefit your household is one thing, but using coupons and then reselling for your own financial gain.........is in my opinion............WRONG!

Not promising anything

With the new TLC show Extreme Couponing (Wednesday nights on TLC at 9 and 9:30 pm), couponing has been the topic of conversation several times over the past couple of weeks. I have been getting, and clipping coupons for a while, but I have not been sorting or using them like I should. Or to put it out there, I have been wasting my time and money. Not anymore. It only takes scoring a freebie or two to get my couponing blood flowing! Free Nivea body wash last night did it (4-17 coupon for $3 off Nivea body wash -- free at WalMart after cpn)!

Extreme Couponing has been really great about showing the stock piles the featured couponers have built up. While I understand some of their stock piles, Yes, even I have a hard time explaining the thousands of tubes of tooth paste the one guy had. Stockpiling is getting and having extras on hand of those items that you need in a household. Paper towels, bath room tissue and cleaning supplies. Items that you would pay full price for if you stopped at the store for at the last minute. I mean honestly, how many times have you called your husband/wife/room mate and said "pick up some toilet paper on your way home". I am honest, I have done it.

Moderation is the key. Once you get a comfortable amount (of course my comfortable amount may be different from someone elses......I know) you stop. Or you donate. Food banks love food donations, but they have need for paper and cleaning procducts too. Or share with friends and family who dont coupon. "Pass It On" or "Pay It Forward" for lack of another way of putting it.

The nice things about stock piles is they will get you through tough times. My stock pile of 14 bottles of shampoo.........well we opened the last bottle of my stock pile last week. 2 yrs, not too bad.

Sunday afternoons and Monday nights are my scheduled couponing deal research time. Like a job, because this will pay me in the long run. I will be posting deals as I find them. Hope they helps others as well!

Happy Couponing
