I love freebies. Before seeing it on TV one night I never knew you could request trial size products for free. So far my freebies have helped my neighbor go to the races and have shampoo and body wash, and I sent my son to Boy Scout camp with trial size shampoo, lessening the load of his camp pack (after all, a Scout is Thrifty).

'Green' Shopping Bags

I recently went to Ingles (a local grocery store based out of WNC) to use some of my Kraft.com coupons. While there I actually remembered my 'Green' shopping bags. Now I will admit that I do buy most of mine at WalMart, simply because they have the blue bags for $0.50, and because I spend 7 hours in the store working for the portrait studio. Most places I have seen that sell 'Green' bags are priced at $0.98 or higher. I wish you could have heard the bag boy fuss because he had to place my groceries in a WalMart bag. He did not like having to use my bright blue WalMart bags.

So I have decided to try to make my own 'Green' Shopping bags. I have taken one that I already own (that has torn), and taken it apart for my pattern. All I will say so far is that it seems like it will be really easy. The bag I have is all one piece of fabric sewn up the sides with handles. Time will tell if it really is that easy. I will try to get photos up when I have made my first one and let you know how it is going.

New Walgreens in Hendersonville

Anyone who has driven down US 25 in Hendersonville, NC has seen the construction of the new Walgreens. The building has been sitting there completed for weeks, and we are just waiting for the Grand Opening. Well looks like we have to wait a little longer. According to a cashier I spoke with at the Arden store, May 15th is the goal for the Grand Opening.

An interesting fact about new stores:
When Walmart built their new store on Highland Square (geez has it really been almost 10 years ago already?) I learned that from the time the store takes occupancy (gets the keys and the construction guys are totally finished) it takes 6 weeks to set up the fixtures and get the stock in place for the grand opening.

Rice Dream online coupon

This is a product that we use a lot of in my home. The boys love the taste, and drink it just like milk. I get the vanilla flavor, so when we have cereals (like rice krispies) it gives the cereal a bit of added sweetness.

I can tell you that WalMart seems to have the best price, and the bigger (32oz) containers. I gave up getting the 16oz because they seemed to be gone before they were opened.

I also emailed the company when I first started couponing, and they were nice enough to send me coupons. If you like the product, you might try doing this as well, they were not for free product, but hey something off is better than paying full price any day!

Couponing while on Vacation

We are currently on a mini vacation for the weekend. One thing I was sure to pack was my coupon book. It has paid off. This afternoon my mother-in-law took a hand full of coupons we pulled based upon her shopping list. Her savings (at Food Lion) was over $28. I went to Wal-mart and racked up.

We are planning our vacation in June, and we are planning on stocking up between now and then and bringing as much as we can, but what we can not bring, we will have to purchase here. I will keep you posted on how we do.

All You magazine update

We had to be up at dark thirty and at Walmart to buy shoes for my son's band competition today. While there I went looking for All You. I found it and I am hooked. I am looking into getting a subscription to it. The coupons are worth it and there are some very interesting articles.

Just as a side note, my son's 7th grade band earned a Superior today! Go AVMS!!
